sancerre wines les godons superb steeply sloped terroir, which is in
the form of an amphitheatre with excellent exposure to the
sun yet sheltered from the wind.
the vines in les godons benefit from a unique
microclimate. apud sariacum sury-en-vaux, has a rich history dating
back to the 12th century, and was called apud
sariacum in roman times. the apud sariacum cuvée is a blend from
numerous vineyards situated around the village. the soil is part of a geological stratum formed
during the secondary era of the jurassic period and fossils
of sea creatures more than 110 million years old are still
discovered in these vineyards. philippe raimbault’s
personal collection is exhibited in his cave, located in the
charming village of sury-en-vaux at the foot of the superb
terrior of les godons; les chasseignes the area of chasseignes has a limestone
soil arising from the base rock. these steep slopes affords the vines with optimal
exposure to the sun. this fine white sancerre is vinified in
oak barrels. coteaux
de giennois wines coteaux de saint-pére the coté de giennois vineyards grow on a
very complex terroir composed of a flinty clay surface over
a chalky subsoil. the surface has a layer of flint pebbles which act as
natural miniature storage heaters storing heat during the
day and releasing it at night. pouilly
fume wines la montée des lumeaux the wine from this vineyard exhibits the
natural characteristics of the limestone-clay terroir which
is loaded with ‘caillottes’ (pebbly chalk soil) and is
